Politique de confidentialité

Dernière mise à jour : 6 août 2026

Knitting Counter (the "App") is independently developed and operated. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App handles, why it is used, how long it is retained, and how users can request deletion.

1. Data We Handle and Where It Is Stored

Local app data: Projects, counters, row and stitch counts, logs, memos, preferences, and files selected by the user are stored on the user's device.

Optional account and cloud sync data: If a user creates or signs in to an account and enables cloud sync, the App handles an email address or sign-in provider information, an internal user ID, and synchronized project, counter, log, memo, and preference data through Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore.

Uploaded content: Images or PDF files selected for applicable app features may be uploaded to Firebase Storage. Content made available through a sharing URL can be accessed by a person who possesses that URL. Users should not upload content containing confidential information or personal information belonging to others without permission.

Diagnostics and usage data: The App may collect app interactions, language, app version, device and operating-system information, installation identifiers, crash traces, and diagnostic information through Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics.

Purchase data: Subscription status, product identifiers, transaction information, and an app-specific identifier are processed by the applicable app store and RevenueCat. The App operator does not receive full payment-card details.

AI pattern analysis data: Only when a user chooses the AI analysis feature, the selected image or PDF, its file type, and the app language are sent through Firebase Cloud Functions to Anthropic for analysis.

2. Purposes of Use

Data is used to provide app features, save and synchronize knitting projects, authenticate users, process subscriptions, perform user-requested AI analysis, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, provide support, and improve the App.

3. Service Providers and Data Sharing

The App uses service providers only as needed to provide or improve its functions: Google Firebase and Google Analytics for authentication, cloud storage, synchronization, configuration, analytics, and crash reporting; Apple and Google for sign-in and store services; RevenueCat for subscription management; Anthropic for user-requested AI analysis; and Vercel for hosting this website.

The App does not sell users' personal information. Data may also be disclosed when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect users, the App, or the rights and safety of others.

4. Data Security

The App uses encrypted network connections and provider access controls to protect data in transit and restrict access to cloud data. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, but reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used according to the nature of the data.

5. Data Retention

Local app data remains on the device until the user deletes it in the App, clears the App's storage, or uninstalls the App. Account deletion performed remotely does not erase data that remains only on the user's device.

Account information and cloud-sync data are retained while the account is active. When an account-deletion request is completed, the account and associated active cloud-sync data and uploaded cloud files are deleted within 30 days, unless limited retention is required by law, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or enforcement of agreements. Any such retained data is restricted to the purpose requiring retention and deleted or anonymized when that purpose ends.

AI inputs and outputs are not intentionally stored by the App after the analysis request finishes. Anthropic may retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days under its commercial API retention policy, except where a longer period is required for legal or abuse-prevention reasons.

Firebase Crashlytics generally retains crash traces and associated identifiers for 90 days. User-level and event-level Google Analytics data is retained for no longer than 14 months under the configured retention settings; aggregated or anonymized statistics may be retained longer.

Purchase and subscription records are retained by the app store and RevenueCat for as long as necessary to provide subscriptions, maintain transaction records, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations, under their respective policies.

6. Deleting Data and Accounts

Individual projects, counters, memos, and related data can be deleted using the controls in the App.

A signed-in user can delete the account and associated cloud data in the App by opening the menu, selecting "Cloud Sync," and then selecting "Delete account." The App will display a confirmation before deletion.

A user who cannot access the App can request account and associated-data deletion at https://knitting-counter.net/account-deletion. Requests submitted through the web process are completed within 30 days after any necessary identity verification.

Deleting an account does not automatically cancel an active subscription. Subscriptions must be canceled separately in Google Play or the Apple App Store. Local-only data can be removed by deleting it in the App, clearing the App's storage, or uninstalling the App.

7. User Choices and Requests

Depending on applicable law, users may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information, or object to or restrict certain processing. Requests can be submitted through the contact information below.

8. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated when the App, applicable law, or data practices change. Material changes will be announced in the App or on the official website, and the date at the top of this policy will be updated.
